Xie's Works

Professor Xie publishes prolifically in Chinese. Two of his most significant works are A New Treatise of Macroeconomics and The Road to Truth: Rebuilding the Foundation of Economics1), which focus on macroeconomics and microeconomics respectively. A New Treatise of Macroeconomics is the first one of his works that has been translated into English.

A New Treatise of Macroeconomics

A New Treatise of Macroeconomics was firstly publised in October 2021 by China Financial & Economics Publishing House. Its Douban's rating is at 9.2 the highest among his others books.

This is a general economics book introducing macroeconomics. Structured the same as mainstream economics textbooks, it covers the core principles in a systematic and accessible way. Despite its name, the book implies that microeconomics subsumes macroeconomics, after Professor Xie rebuilds the framework of macroeconomics.

The Road to Truth

The Road to TruthRebuilding the Foundation of Economics was firstly published in November 2019 however printed in May 2024 by Liaoning People's Publishing House. Xie has been teaching economics independently since 2015, after being dismissed from his academic position for speaking candidly and defending views he believed to be true. By 2019, he had made a series of breakthroughs that resolved longstanding inconsistencies in mainstream economics. Those insights laid the foundation for the ideas presented in this book.

Professor Xie has taken that conviction to heart. He wrote this economics textbook to offer an alternative to mainstream texts, which, in his view, contain important theoretical inconsistencies. Drawing on years of teaching and deliberation, he presents a more coherent framework for understanding economics and the world around us.

This book is an abridged version of the Xie’s earlier work, The Road to Truth, with more advanced and technical sections removed to create a clear and accessible introduction for younger students and general readers.
